Ishion Hutchinson: I can hear a poem before it arrives'
Ishion Hutchinson's third poetry collection, School of Instructions, has been nominated for the 2023 TS Eliot prize.
The collection explores the participation of Caribbean soldiers in World War I and combines the narratives of the past with the poet's own experiences growing up in Jamaica.
The book was inspired by a war journal discovered at the Imperial War Museum, which detailed the experiences of black West Indian soldiers in the Middle East. [ more ]
